I had the pleasure to be part of the Fair Isle Yarn team this year at Creativation, put on by the Craft and Hobby Association. Being surrounded by such inspirational people, brands, booths, and crafting supplies made for a whirlwind of a day but a memorable one.

The Fair Isle Yarn booth was beautifully merchandised with swatches and examples of all our yarn qualities knitted up. Talking yarn all day is already my idea of a great time, but to have the ability to talk about our new brand that has just recently launched, was even more of a joy. Many were excited to hear about us and to try out our sample quantities of the super soft Liberty yarn. Another hit were the small amigurumi dolls we had crocheted up. They were beautifully crafted with embroidered and hand painted details.

I was fortunate to meet many bloggers and designers and introduce them to Fair Isle Yarns while at the booth. The knitting community is very tightly knit (pun intended) so it was very exciting to be able to share my experience with our brand new yarn company and to get more crafters excited to use our yarn. We are lucky to have so many qualities that work for a wide range of projects and to have such a beautiful color palette.

By Sunday afternoon, I was very excited to learn that we had received the award for “Best Linear Booth Design” from the Association for creative industries. Such a proud moment! The design, merchandising and marketing team did such an amazing job making the booth very bright, fresh, and welcoming. Winning this award was icing on the cake for the weekend.

The entire show had some incredible displays. Tattered Lace had the most incredible giant paper display of the Statue of Liberty, Big Ben, and a double decker bus surrounded by black and white roses. It was so unexpected and so spectacular to see. Another booth that really caught my eye was the supremely textured, weaving display at the Plaid booth. I love that textured, tapestry, rya weaving has been making a comeback in home textiles!

I thoroughly enjoyed going around and seeing all the different craft vendors during the show. There was such a wide variety of styles to take inspiration from. Creativation was a great collection of all different crafters and suppliers and I look forward to the next one!
